Where to probe, and why

A session runs from board choice to confirmed fix with your hands on the probes the whole time. Every step says what to do, where each lead goes and what the reading means.

Three questions, answered at a glance

Charge light colour, current draw, fan, display. Each question has a few options and the words you can say instead of tapping. An amber or green swatch depicts the LED on the board; it is never a verdict.

Your answers are saved with the session, so the next tech on the job sees what you saw.

Step 1Question

What colour is the charge light?

We're doing this to find out whether the charger is being accepted at all.

One lit point, two leads

The board view zooms to the point being measured and lights it. A red ring with a plus tag marks where the red lead goes and a black disc with a white ring where the black lead goes: black on ground for a voltage reading, red on ground for diode mode and resistance to ground, the way reference values are taken. The target net glows while every other net dims, and red on the board only ever means the red lead.

Your own boardview and schematic open on your machine and never leave it. The server only sees part references, net names and readings.

Readings that save themselves

A supported meter streams live. When the reading is steady within tolerance it saves itself, gets its verdict and the next step loads 2 seconds later. A foot pedal, a hotkey, a voice word or a tap capture it sooner, and manual entry covers any meter at all.

Verdicts are plain words with an icon: In range inside the range, Check just outside it, Fault beyond the margin. Every range shows its source and how many samples back it.

Step 4Diode

Diode mode on the main bus

Unplugged, battery disconnected.

Every fix teaches the next session

A fault opens the branch for that rail; an in-range reading closes the branches it rules out. When the tree names a part, the card shows the confidence, the evidence, the fix and the donor boards, with how often this fix has been recorded on the board.

Closed sessions write an anonymised fix record. Reference values per net update from contributed readings once ten samples from three contributors agree, and outliers go to review first.

Voice and sound at the bench

Push-to-talk on the foot pedal, with a fixed set of words recognised on the device in a noisy shop: next back repeat capture skip where is it, plus the option words of the current question.

Short tones for capture, in range, check, fault and continuity, with a mute toggle remembered per device. Every sound has a visual twin, so nothing depends on hearing it.

C7010 has failed short across PPBUS_MAIN, so the bus reads as a dead short in diode mode.
